Healing Rhythms Training Tip

Take a GRATITUDE walk in honor of of yourself and the earth.

Gratitude opens up your way of thinking and can elevate your mood.

Try This: Go for a gratitude walk. Drop what you are doing for just 15 minutes and get outside and start walking! The only rule is that during your walk, you are not allowed to think about work or replay any unpleasant scenarios in your head.

Focus on your legs stretching, hips opening up and watch as your breath gets slower, deeper and more relaxed. Turn your attention to all of the things in your life you are grateful for and use this time to express your gratitude for all of those people and things in your life.

After the fifteen minutes return to what you were doing and notice your energy. Has it changed? How has it changed? Wouldn't you like to feel this way more often?

Gratitude is not only good for yourself, it's good for all those around you!

Boost Your Health With A Dose of Gratitude
By Elizabeth Huebeck

What would happen if we extended the tradition of giving thanks, typically celebrated just once a year during the holiday season, throughout the entire year? Such gratitude would be rewarded with better health, say researchers.
No pill? No strict diet or exercise regimen? Can just a positive emotion such as gratitude guarantee better health? It may be a dramatic departure from what we've been taught about how to get healthier, but the connection between gratitude and health actually goes back a long way.

"Thousands of years of literature talk about the benefits of cultivating gratefulness as a virtue," says University of California Davis psychology professor Robert Emmons. Throughout history, philosophers and religious leaders have extolled gratitude as a virtue integral to health and well-being. Now, through a recent movement called positive psychology, mental health professionals are taking a close look at how virtues such as gratitude can benefit our health. And they're reaping some promising results.    More

You'll Flip for These Mental Gymnastics By Dr. Matthew Anderson

Overeating has almost nothing to do with hunger. We overeat to dull, avoid or manage difficult feelings. We often use food as a substitute for emotional needs that are unmet. If we are feeling unhappy, deprived, depressed, sad, angry, disappointed or empty, we often attempt to compensate with food.

I want to offer a wonderful, pleasant and easy technique that will help you manage your difficult emotions. It is called gratitude.

I want to assure you that I am not suggesting the use of gratitude as a denial mechanism. Of course, some people use it for that but I trust you will not. Healthy gratitude is a natural human function and, if used properly, will produce a deep sense of satisfaction, peacefulness and even joy. Once you immerse yourself in these feelings, you will probably not feel like overeating. Here’s how it works.

"Get Inspired"
April Letter from Deepak Chopra

"The state of wholeness is the basis for all healing."

For thousands of years the great Vedic seers have proclaimed that the purpose of attending to the body is to support the state of being known as enlightenment. In this state our internal reference point shifts from the ego to spirit, and we recognize that the knower, the process of knowing, and that which is known are one and the same. The boundaries of time and space become fluid as we remember ourselves as unbounded beings temporarily masquerading as individuals. This state of wholeness is the basis of all healing.
In my continuing exploration of healing, I am totally convinced that true health is much more than the absence of an abnormal laboratory finding; it is even more than optimal mind body integration. Health in its essence is a higher state of consciousness. The first step is knowing your body type.
In Ayurveda, living in tune with nature – easily, comfortably, and without strain – means respecting your uniqueness.
