Tea Time!
200 mg of Buddha: L-theanine
Russ Mason, M.S.
Regardless of how often one meditates or practices
deep breathing, stress and anxiety will somehow find their way
into our daily lives, disrupting our tranquility and peace of
mind.
Stress and anxiety can compromise the immune system, cause depression,
impair the ability to perform mental tasks, and may also result
in reactions to situations which cause frustration, anger and
hostility.
It is during these times that a cup of tea is especially welcome.
Oriental cultures have long known about its soothing benefits
and have used it as a general purpose tonic, and for its relaxation
effects. In a recent Wild Divine newsletter (October 6, 2006),
Dean Ornish, M.D., wrote of green tea’s numerous health
benefits.
While there are hundreds of research studies that
support the use of green tea, most people drink it because it
has a pleasant flavor and a relaxing effect.

“The best gift I ever received was from my three and
half year old granddaughter, who told me as we were walking
on the beach one evening, ‘I love you more than the stars
and the moon.’ The greatest gift of life is the giving
and receiving of love.”

Healing Rhythms Training Tip
|
| Quiet The Mind.
Learn to let thoughts settle.

Think of a glass snow globe -- when you shake it, snow fills
the glass globe so that you can barely see inside. Allow the
globe to sit undisturbed for just a few minutes, and the snow
slowly settles to the bottom, leaving the water crystal clear.
Your mind functions in a similar way -- every day, a series
of events kick up a whirling chaos of internal activity, making
it hard to really see what's going on.
By taking a few minuets every day to allow the
mind to become quiet, and letting the hundreds of fragments
of thoughts and distractions drift to the bottom, you can gain
greater clarity into who you are -- apart from your thoughts
and fears.
